‘Tax liability cover’ now includes travel & subsistence

11th April 2016
Written by Qdos Contractor

The changes made in the Finance Bill 2016 with regards to travel and subsistence are now in force.

This means that should you be operating within the IR35 legislation, you will be restricted from making any further claims for travel and subsistence expenses.

Should HMRC enquire into your accounts under the IR35 legislation, and find that you are operating inside IR35, then you may be liable for any expense claims made after 6th April 2016 and in relation to travel and subsistence.

In response to these changes, we can confirm that travel and subsistence liabilities resulting from a successful IR35 enquiry will now be covered under our existing Tax Liability Cover (TLC35) product.

All existing policyholders will be covered under their policy and this change does not require any action.

This innovative policy already covers for full representation in the event of a variety of HMRC enquiries, plus indemnity for the liabilities, penalties, and interest found owing as a result of a successful IR35 investigation, a valuable policy for anyone looking for peace of mind with regards to IR35.
