Leading IR35 advisor, Qdos, has today announced the appointment of former HMRC Inspector, Nigel Nordone, as its new Head of Tax as it strengthens its team considerably ahead of the arrival of private sector reform in April 2020.
Nigel has specialised in IR35 since its inception and joins Qdos with a wealth of employment tax legislation and compliance experience. Having worked at HMRC for over two decades, Nigel then spent more than 10 years working as a Senior Tax Consultant at a leading Fee Protection Provider where he successfully represented numerous contractors in IR35 enquiries.
With a broad range of IR35 skills - from handling contract reviews to corporate compliance checks for recruitment agencies and end-clients - Nigel will head up the Qdos Tax Team, which has already shut down two IR35 enquiries in 2019 alone.
Nigel Nordone, Qdos Head of Tax, commented:
“IR35 reform is approaching and HMRC seems increasingly aggressive in its pursuit of contractors. By joining Qdos - already a leader in its field - it is my aim to continue protecting these individuals with the very best advice and representation while also educating recruiters and end-clients on best practice and ways to protect their own liability.”
Seb Maley, Qdos CEO, said:
“The level of understanding Nigel has of the IR35 legislation is a rarity and we’re confident he will quickly become a valuable asset as we help contractors, recruitment agencies and businesses prepare for changes next year.
“Nigel has worked at the forefront of IR35 since it was introduced and having spent a number of years at HMRC, has valuable insight into the way the taxman interprets the legislation. This, combined with his wide range of IR35 skills and impressive track record, means Nigel significantly strengthens our offering at what is a crucial time.”
